Pendimethalin 30% EC is a pre-emergence herbicide, belonging to the dinitroaniline class, used to control annual grasses and certain broadleafweeds before they emerge. It acts by disrupting cell division and elongation in weed seedlings, effectively preventing their growth and causing them to die. This selective herbicide is applied to the soil as a thin layer, and its effectiveness depends on sufficient soil moisture at the time of application.

How it works (Mode of Action)
  • Pre-Emergence Control: Pendimethalin 30% EC is applied before weeds emerge from the soil.
  • Soil Barrier: It forms a thin layer on the soil surface.
  • Root Inhibition: When weed seeds try to germinate, they absorb the herbicide through their roots and leaves.
  • Cellular Disruption: The herbicide inhibits the formation of microtubules, disrupting the cell division and elongation process essential for plant growth.
  • Plant Death: Weeds unable to divide and grow die shortly after germination.
Key Features
  • Selective: It targets weeds without harming most cultivated crops.
  • Broad-Spectrum: Controls both narrow-leaf (grasses) and broadleaf weeds.
  • Long-Lasting: Provides extended control over emerging weeds.
Recommended Usage
  • Application: Applied as a blanket spray on the soil after sowing or transplanting, but before weed or crop emergence.
  • Soil Moisture: Requires sufficient soil moisture for effective weed control.
  • Compatibility: Typically sprayed as a single chemical and not mixed with other herbicides.
Suitable Crops
Pendimethalin 30% EC is used in various crops, including: Cotton, Soybean, Wheat, Rice (Paddy), and Pigeon Pea.
