Bispyribac sodium 10% SC is  a post-emergence,selective,systemic herbicide primarily used to control a broad spectrum of weeds, including grasses, sedges,and broadleaf weeds, in rice cultivation. It functions by inhibiting the acetolactate synthase (ALS) enzyme in plants, which disrupts the production of essential amino acids, leading to stunted growth and death of susceptible weeds. The “10 SC” indicates it’s a 10% Suspension Concentrate formulation.  

How it works
    • Post-emergence: 
      Applied after the weeds have emerged. 

    • Systemic: 
      The herbicide is absorbed by both the foliage and roots of the weeds and translocated throughout the plant. 

    • ALS Inhibitor: 
      Bispyribac sodium targets the ALS enzyme, which is crucial for synthesizing branched-chain amino acids. 

  • Weed Control: 
    By blocking this pathway, the herbicide prevents protein production, resulting in chlorosis (yellowing), stunted growth, and ultimately, the death of target weeds.
